Music Director Brian MacKay writes…..

Irish Doctors Choir “Going Places” 2025. In a year which will culminate in a performance in the historic Cathedral in Salamanca we plan to revisit our pattern of taking our music into places of care, hospital wards, care homes and others. “Going Places” will also be aspirational, it will be a year to develop our repertoire and our vocal, musical and performance technique. We will sing repertoire which crosses cultures and musical styles including some of our old favourites, Cantique de Jean Racine, Palestrina, our Irish Songs, Frozen!, West Side Story, Toy Story! We will add new pieces as we develop “Of Night and Light” into a programme we are proud to take to Salamanca. Watch out for “At the hour when all things have repose” from Joyce’s Chamber Music set by Timothy Stephens, A Celtic Prayer by James Buonemani, Look up sweet babe by Lennox Berkeley, We shall walk through the valley by Undine Smith Moore, TaReKita by Reena Esmail, Shingway by Meredith Monk and more……  Not just for those who can come with us to Salamanca but a year of musical activity and development for us all. And….. we will memorise some of our favourite music so that when we arrive somewhere, anywhere where we are asked to sing or just feel like singing we can sing. I am looking forward to another fabulous year with you all.
