MERCY HOSPITAL FUNDRAISING, CORK

PERFORMANCE WEEKEND AND REHEARSALS

Our performance weekend begins at 7pm on Thursday 21st: Brian hopes to use this first evening session to get us into gear for the weekend so it is highly recommended. His all-day Friday and Saturday rehearsals are mandatory if you want to perform in this concert. The performance itself is on the afternoon of Sunday Nov 24that 3.30pm with an  estimated finish time of 5.30pm. We hope that you can come on the Thursday evening so we have put together options for a three-night stay in Cork (see below under accommodation in Cork)

Brian MacKay’s rehearsal schedule will be posted here nearer the time . You are encouraged to attend from Thursday 21st if possible, and you must attend all rehearsals from Friday 22nd onwards.

We will be in the  Brookfield Health Sciences Complex UCC T12 K8AF MAP HERE . Parking will be available at the nearby Western Gate Complex in UCC).

Travel

We can send you more details nearer the time but our Cork venues and accommodation connect well with Cork airport and with Dublin via train or bus. There are excellent cheap fares for direct flights into Cork from UK and mainland Europe if you book now. Dublin airport also has excellent accessibility with more flights (e.g. from Belfast), with hourly air-coach transport to Cork. If you need help with lifts from airports etc.  please let us know as chorus members would be willing to help. We could consider private coach hire if enough members expressed interest.

Accommodation in Cork

We are delighted that we have been able to arrange a group reservation option for the chorus at the very popular Kingsley Hotel Cork, part of the Fota Island group and within walking distance of UCC. Booking will be on a ‘first-come-first-served’ for the following options.

Here are the details:

**Group Reference: Mercy Hospital Charity choral event

Arrival: Thursday 21st November 2019

Depart:  Sunday 24th November 2019

  • €130.00 B&B per classic single room per night
  • €145.00 B&B per classic double/twin room per night
  • €150.00 B&B per deluxe single room per night
  • €165.00 B&B per deluxe double/twin room per night

Hotel phone number +353 21 480 0500

Each guest will have to quote “Mercy Hospital charity choral event” to avail of these rates, they will be asked for contact details, home address and credit card details to guarantee the booking.

Payment will be made at the hotel. Any rooms not booked 6 weeks prior to arrival will be automatically released.

The idea behind selecting this hotel is that it has availability to host the whole choir and this would be nice from a social perspective, to have everyone together.

However, we also have a list of alternative accommodation in Cork – hotels and B&B options within walking distance of rehearsals and concert venue – that we can recommend. In addition, if any visitors would prefer to explore the alternative of hospitality with one of our local chorus members, please email us.

A note about pre-purchase option for booking hotels. The above group rate for Kingsley Hotel is a non payment rate at the time of booking. However if you are ready to gamble that you will definitely be in Cork from Thursday Nov 21st – Sunday Nov 24th – there is currently a pre-purchase non refundable B&B rate on the Kingsley website for 2 adults in a classic room for three nights at €310.50. First come-first served! This is currently the best value rate in Cork.www.thekingsley.ie

Accompanying Persons

If you are bringing non-performing family or friends to Cork, they are very welcome to join our social programme when this is finalised. The Kingsley hotel has family rooms and they can help with beds or cots in existing rooms -discuss this with them.
